In 2022, thanks to the Thai government's lifting of coronavirus restrictions, I was able to go to Thailand for reporting in the fall as well as in the spring.
As of the writing of this manuscript on January 9, 2023, the Thai government appears to be causing confusion in the tourism industry as it has once again tightened the coronavirus regulations that it had previously lifted.
Well, it's clear that this tightening of regulations is a big deal if it's limited to China, but it also includes other countries, but it's a big inconvenience for people who were planning to go on a sightseeing trip to Thailand in the new year.
People who have been watching Thailand for decades can laugh at this trend and think it's typical of Thailand, but for those who have been affected by it, it's no laughing matter.
We are planning to evacuate to Thailand again this year from around March, when the scattering of cedar pollen peaks, but we wonder what will happen by then.
Well, that's enough about the coronavirus, let's get to the main topic.
This time we will introduce a fish called carbon, which is an improved variety of Betta, Smaragdina, and Guitar. This variety was already on the Thai market when I visited Thailand in the spring of 2022.
At that time, not only the product name Guitar Carbon, but also Guitar Black and Guitar Silver were used. At that time, I happened to see an individual that I didn't find as attractive as the one I used for this model, so I passed on it.
I visited Thailand again in October 2022, and when I saw the specimen recommended by the shopkeeper at my usual wild-type store, I realized once again that I had to photograph it due to its unique body color and form, so I immediately purchased it. did.
At this time, I was also recommended a wonderful example of Guitar Giant, so I decided to buy a double guitar. Although they are improved varieties of the same guitar, those who are not familiar with the guitars would not think that these two varieties are the same in terms of size, shape, and color.
When I removed the partition between the exhibition tank, Guitar Carbon revealed a mysterious sparkle in the dark brown water.
When I saw this feature, I was struck by how exquisite the name carbon was. The metallic luster that can be seen when charcoal is broken shines on the dorsal and tail fins.
However, it was somewhat difficult to reproduce this metallic luster in photos.
I couldn't reproduce this characteristic well with conventional lighting, so I took longer than usual to take the photo, changing the position of the strobe and the balance of light intensity.
When I purchased the model fish, I had some business to attend to afterwards, so I didn't ask any questions about the fish, but instead visited the fish after the photo shoot and asked about the process behind its creation.
It's been known for a long time that there is a population of guitars that develop spade tails, and I had photographed them, so I was convinced, but I had seen this suspicious metallic luster somewhere before. I feel like that, but I can't remember.
At this point, the store owner revealed to me that Guitar Carbon was created by crossing a spadetail guitar with alien silver, and the scales fell from my eyes.
This metallic luster is certainly a characteristic of alien fish. That's why I felt like I had seen it somewhere before.
In any case, the guitar's blood had already been used to create the alien, but I was impressed by the idea of breeding an alien with the original guitar, an idea that was hard to come up with.
The name is exquisite, and the color and form are beautiful, so it will continue to be popular as a standard wild species.
It is also great that they are sold in pairs, including females, at a reasonable price.
It has already been introduced to the Japanese market, and it doesn't seem to be difficult to obtain if you look for it.
Breeding is the same as with guitars, so there is no problem, so please enjoy breeding them.
As a precaution when breeding, I would like you to hear some of my own failures.
This Guitar Carbon is a wild species, so when breeding it, the breeding container was tightly covered to prevent it from flying out.
Unlike improved breeds such as Plakat and Half Moon, wild bettas and improved wild breeds are more active, so wild breed enthusiasts may be aware that they often have accidents jumping out of breeding tanks. .
I can't help but wonder how many times I've made dried fish and felt overwhelmed with sadness.
Only those who have experienced the same experience would be able to understand the shock of finding a dry fish outside the aquarium.
This time, I kept the lid tightly closed when I was raising them, but when I took the picture, they jumped while I was taking my eyes off them, and I ended up creating two half-dried Guitar Carbons.
Fortunately, I noticed it before it became sticky, so I put it back in the water, and it started twitching and came back to life.
In such cases, we use Suma, which is famous at Thailand's betta market, but although the fish survived, its beautiful fins were now in tatters.
These fish can no longer be used as models, so they have no choice but to be used for breeding. It may have been a coincidence, but this is the first time I've had two of them jump out in a row.
When breeding not only guitar carbon but also wild betta fish, be careful not to jump out. I realized this once again, so I would like everyone to be careful.
